We're expecting!

We’re excited to share our journey with you as we prepare for the arrival of six fine feathered friends who will be joining the Abigail’s Inn crew. The youngsters are currently resting comfortably in the incubator at Harmony Lane Farm and being well cared for by our friend and chicken mentor, Rob Lovell. Rob expects that they’ll find their way out of their shells on or about February 16. Rob will watch over them for a couple of months to allow them to grow feathers and to be assured that we get hens (roosters are not allowed in-town Camden ). We look forward to visiting them once they hatch and will make sure to post a photo or video of the gals.

Huge shout-out to our pals at Pine Ridge Carpentry who, along with renovating/updating several guest bathrooms, have designed and created a coop that any hen in its right mind would want to lay an egg or two in. We’re also getting some great guidance from Pine Ridgers Dan, Lee and David .

We will continue to study up as we prepare for the arrival of our gals. They will be a hybrid of Barred Rock and Hamburg breeds and promise to lay lots of farm fresh eggs for us to serve Inn guests.

Stay tuned for future posts about our new adventure.
